Tythe House

North Woodchester, Gloucestershire

Residential

New build timber framed low energy family home

The orientation of the site in North Woodchester and the preponderance of trees on the rear boundaries resulted in little light coming in from the back garden. In response to this a large glass roof was built over the kitchen to bring sky light in, maintaining the spacious feel to the house. To maintain a greater privacy and security, a Japanese-style gatehouse and entrance courtyard with electrically operated Green Oak gates was incorporated.

Under floor heating and low voltage recessed downlights are present throughout and an expansive decked area was built over the carport creating a sitting out space from the living room with views over the valley. This house comprises a timber frame, Cotswold Stone cladding and reconstituted stone tiles to the roof, and is insulated with Warmcel recycled newspaper.
