Lighting designers Sutton Vane Associates designed the interactive lighting system that runs along the north east corner facing Blackpool North rail station. The system responds to text messages containing the words such as red, orange, blue, green and surprise. “Surprise is, well, a surprise, with lots of colours and movement,” explains director Mark Sutton Vane, “we have made this car park into a work of light art that is appropriate for Blackpool”.
The project is shortlisted in the public building category for the Lighting Design Awards where the winners will be announced in March 2014.
