Mark Potter presented to delegates at the one day Parking and Property 2017 Conference in London together with Peter Dijkhuis, Urban design director from CBRE, a combined talk on the car park of the future. As a building type, car parks are likely to become “automotive mobility hubs!”, accommodating driverless cars with greater space allocated to safe cycle storage, car clubs and solar generation. The strategy is to adapt our current building stock and even plan new car parks exclusively for autonomous cars with the potential to park 50% more cars in the same floor area thus saving land in our cities.
